Xiaomi promises to introduce an electric car in the third quarter

Apparently, the wait for the first electric car from the Chinese company Xiaomi is not so long. At least, that’s what one of the company’s top managers promises.

During the year that has passed since the announcement, almost no information has appeared about the electric car from Xiaomi. Apart from the approximate start date of production and the company’s vague promises, we only heard rumors about possible production volumes. This time, the situation hasn’t changed much.

What has become known now

  • The management still doesn’t talk about any characteristics or other details.
  • According to Luo Baojun, CEO of Xiaomi’s Beijing-Tianjin branch, the prototype of Xiaomi’s first electric car will be unveiled in the third quarter of this year – that is, no later than September.
  • What exactly the car will be, the top manager did not say, but noted that it “will exceed all expectations.”
  • Whether to trust these words, Time will tell, because we all know very well that every company tries to praise its product as best as possible before releasing it, and the result is often a mediocre product that neither reviewers and market experts like, nor ordinary users.

Now Xiaomi continues to actively recruit staff. For example, this year some of the employees working on MIUI will be transferred to the automotive division. The company is already building a large factory in the suburbs of Beijing.

Recall that various data indicate the volume of car production from 100,000 per year, up to 300 thousand. The Beijing plant has a capacity of 150 thousand cars at the first stage of its construction. The second stage will be able to increase production to 300 thousand units.
