Western multiple rocket launcher are twice as effective as Russian ones: the numbers were posted online

The US M270 MLRS tracked multiple rocket launcher system and the M142 HIMARS rocket artillery system have a greater combat advantage than the Russian Hurricanes and Tornadoes. The effectiveness of the former is twice that of the latter.

Comparative information published by the “StratCom ZSU” Telegram channel. The experts gave a visual assessment of the effectiveness of the Western MLRS handed over to the Ukrainian defenders against those used by the occupiers.

It is noted that the 220 mm “Hurricane” rocket salvo fire system developed during the USSR is considered the most powerful in the Russian Federation. This installation is capable of releasing 16 shells in one volley, unlike others.

While the disadvantages of the Russian BM-30 ‘Smerch’ and 9K515 ‘Tornado-S’ systems (both 300 mm caliber) are that they require up to 12 minutes for the guidance and aiming process, and 20 and 40 minutes for reloading, which is very critical during combat. It is noteworthy that, according to data from open sources, there are no more than 20 Tornado-S MLRS in the ranks of the Russian troops.

A special place in the enemy’s army is occupied by the ‘Kama’ MLRS, which is actually the occupiers’ answer to the American HIMARS. However, it is not yet in service in the Russian Federation and was not seen on the territory of Ukraine during the war.

The Western M270 MLRS and HIMARS, which the Armed Forces are already using against Russian invaders, can fire six and 12 projectiles in one volley, respectively. At the same time, both of them take one minute to aim and five to recharge, their range is 85 km, and their weight is 25 and 11 tons. But the Russian ‘Hurricane’ and ‘Smerch’ have a range of 40 and 80 km, weight 20 and 43 tons, respectively.

‘As a result, Western MLRS are almost twice as large as Russian ‘net analogues’. Due to this, even four HIMARS are changing the situation on the front line. It is not for nothing that they are called game-changing weapons.’ — say experts.

It should be noted that the Armed Forces use nine M142 HIMARS and similar missile systems provided to Ukraine by allies against the occupiers. Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the NSDC, said that they inflict devastating losses on the enemy – Russian troops are ‘defenseless’ against such modern weapons.
