Unknown people offer the founder of Rozetka to sell the whole business for the price of one store

Vladislav Chechotkin, owner of Rozetka, Ukraine’s largest marketplace, told Forbes that he had received an offer to sell the business. He calls unknown persons “hyenas” because of the amount they offered.

The Rozetka online store found itself in a difficult situation due to the Russian invasion. The company’s warehouses located around Kyiv have become inaccessible, 25 stores have been looted and destroyed by occupiers or looters, and turnover has fallen from 4 billion to 23 million hryvnias in three weeks. Then came the offer to sell the business for a ridiculous amount.

What is known

According to Chechotkin, Rozetka did not have a financial cushion, because it reinvested almost all the profits in the development and expansion of the business.

During the most difficult period, he was offered to sell the company for only two million dollars, while in February, the value of Rozetka was estimated at one billion dollars.

Hyenas appeared with an offer to buy Rozetka for the price of one of our stores. This is several times less than our pre-war payroll

says the founder.

The businessman did not specify who made such an offer, but it is clear that he refused.

As we wrote earlier, Rozetka is currently trying to restart, hoping to reach 20-25% of pre-war turnover thanks to the resources that remain available. In particular, Chechotkin mentions the Lviv warehouse, which has a certain part of the products.
