Ukrainian designers presented the first concepts of Irpen restoration

The first conceptual plans and visualizations – as part of the Irpіn Reconstruction Summit 4.0, teams of Ukrainian designers presented their vision of how to rebuild the city, Pragmatika writes.

As a result of the Russian aggression, 76% of the buildings and structures of the Irpіn agglomeration were destroyed or damaged. Restoration of each object requires a separate examination and individual design. Renovation projects of iconic cultural sites, the city square, kindergartens and schools were presented at the summit. The presentation of the concepts is only an intermediate stage of the recovery program.

The Irpіn Museum of Local Lore, located in the former store on the central square of the city, was slightly damaged. During the renovation, it is proposed to expand the area of exhibition galleries and funds, as well as create a new entrance group. The location of the museum on the first floor of a residential building does not leave room for radical spatial solutions, but the designers believe it is possible to turn it into a modern cultural infrastructure.

According to Ruslan Savchuk’s team, the Romanivka city club is facing a radical overhaul. It is expected that the new building on the site of the destroyed building will become a symbolic link of the ‘Road of Life’, an element that complements the monument on the site of the destroyed bridge, designed by architects balbek bureau. Architects offer to supplement the space of the club with an exhibition gallery, dance hall, cafe, library. In front of the club, the authors of the project propose to create a playground in the Scandinavian style.

At once, several teams presented their options for the restoration of the Central House of Culture of Irpіn. The historic house has been badly damaged, but all participants in the brainstorm are trying to preserve it. This can be the conservation of the facade and the entrance area with columns under the glass sarcophagus, the restoration or construction of a copy that corresponds to the original. The new volumes, which are planned to be added to the house with columns, will have a modern design.

The Champion Stadium is planned not only to be restored, but also to be modernized. Increase the number of fields by adding multifunctional playgrounds for children’s clubs; install new lighting systems that meet international standards, and protect the stands with canopies with solar panels.

A modern multifunctional square will appear on the site of the market destroyed by the shelling on Soborna Street, the projects of which have also been prepared by several bureaus. Offering a variety of designs, all developers focus on making the new public space ‘space for all’ – barrier-free, comfortable and flexible: with landscaping, sun pergolas, fountains and ponds, skate parks, food courts. There is also an idea to connect the new square with a pedestrian and bicycle bridge with Pravika Park.

Schools and kindergartens, the restoration of which is a priority, are planned to be equipped with shelters designed to accommodate all students and staff. Some of the facilities are not subject to renovation and are designed as new construction.

The summit also raised the issue of creating a new spatial concept of the Irpin agglomeration, improving the road network and paving new bicycle routes between the subcenters and Kyiv.

All presented projects and their budgets will be discussed in working groups. We will remind, earlier the mayor of Irpen Alexander Markushin declared that for restoration of all infrastructure of the Irpіn community 1 billion dollars are necessary, from them 850 million will go on restoration of housing stock.
