Ukraine will receive TALON robots for demining (video)

The American company QinetiQ-NA will hand over to Ukraine another batch of TALON sapper robots, which will help in demining territories

QinetiQ-NA is a ‘daughter’ of the British defense company QinetiQ. Since 2014, she has been conducting training and maintenance of TALON robots in Ukraine. During this time, the company has trained more than a hundred Ukrainian sappers.

Until February 24, there were more than a dozen TALON remotely controlled devices in Ukraine. In the near future, the Defense Forces will receive a new batch of ten robots. The corresponding press release appeared on the company’s website.

The basic modification of TALON has a length of 86.4 cm and a height of 42.7 cm. The weight of the device can be up to 71 kg. Payload – up to 45 kg. In addition, the robot can haul loads weighing up to 680 kg. The power plant provides a maximum speed of 8.3 km / h. Without recharging, the robot works for about 3-4.5 hours, depending on the terrain and the task, and in standby mode, the autonomy reaches 7 days.

TALON is used by sappers to reduce the level of threat when working with explosives. To do this, it is equipped with a manipulator that can lift loads weighing up to 11 kg. The robot can detect and defuse explosives, conduct reconnaissance and find antipersonnel mines. The specialist can operate the device at a distance of 300 m (cable) to 800 m (by radio).
