Ukraine called on the EU to completely close transport links with Russia and Belarus – Ministry of Infrastructure

Ukraine proposes that the EU completely block transport links with Russia and Belarus, including the transit of goods and passengers.

The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine sent a corresponding appeal to the European Commission, the ministry’s press service reports.

“Despite the already imposed restrictive measures, Russian business is finding workarounds and continues to operate in other countries. Accordingly, the existing sanctions do not fully achieve their goal,” – explained the need for such steps in the Ministry of Infrastructure.

In particular, the Ukrainian side offers the European Union:

  • completely block land and sea transport connections with Russia and Belarus;
  • to block the possibility of transporting goods and people to Russia and Belarus through the territory of the European Union and across its borders;
  • to prohibit the provision of customs services for goods delivered to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.

The Ministry of Infrastructure believes that these measures are necessary to stop the supply to the aggressor country of dual-use goods that can be used for military purposes.
