The USA is demanding to declare Russia a state sponsor of terrorism

The US Congress called on Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to recognize Russia as a country that supports the policy of terrorism.

The US Parliament requires its government to recognize Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism. In particular, this week the speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, made such a demand to Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. If the administration refuses, she said, then Congress itself will.

‘There is no legal reason why Congress should not pass legislation that effectively designates Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism,’ the Democratic aide was quoted as saying by the media.

The source added that getting the law through Congress is a more difficult path than the secretary of state’s decision. But it will give the administration political cover.

Earlier it became known that Lavrov announced that the Russian Federation would change the geographical goals of the war and would not be limited to the territory of Donbas, but would also ‘liberate’ a number of other regions of Ukraine. According to Lavrov, Russia did not attack Ukraine, but was forced to launch a ‘special operation’ because the West was ‘engaged in criminal activities, drawing Ukraine into NATO.’
