The price of fuel in the United States has reached an all-time high

Fuel in the United States is currently the most expensive in American history. The price reached $5 per gallon (46 UAH per liter).

Over the past 12 months, fuel prices in the United States have risen 62% to a record $5 per gallon. This was reported by the American Automobile Association.

This is a record level reached after several months of rapid growth in fuel prices. A year ago, the average price per gallon of gasoline in the United States was $3.07.

The rise in fuel prices follows a steady rise in oil prices, which fell sharply in the first panic periods around COVID-19 due to falling demand, but rose again as global economic activity resumed. A barrel of crude oil is currently on sale in London and New York for more than $120.

According to government figures, overall energy prices in the United States rose by almost 35% in May compared to the same month last year. This contributed to the general growth of consumer prices in the United States, which in May jumped by 8.6% compared to the same period last year, which was a record increase over the past 40 years.

To the public, Joseph Biden criticizes the American oil industry and warns that energy companies should not ‘abuse the problems created by the war in Ukraine to make excessive profits and raise prices.’
