The EU is ready to cover “most” of the costs of reconstruction of Ukraine – Vice President of the European Commission

A proposal to link infrastructure reconstruction with structural reforms is due by the end of this month.

Ukraine needs between €500 billion and €600 billion to rebuild, and the European Union is ready to cover a ‘large’ part of that amount. This was announced by Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis during a speech in Marrakech (Morocco), reports Politico.

According to him, the European Union ‘will provide great and very significant support for these reconstruction needs.’ He also added that a proposal would be received later this month that would ‘link support for infrastructure rehabilitation… with the structural reforms that Ukraine may need as an EU candidate country.’, the total losses of Ukraine’s economy due to the war range from $564 billion to $600 billion.
