The developers of the crypto project Optimism sent $350 million not there and lost money

The authors of the cryptocurrency project Optimism out of their own stupidity lost 20 million OP tokens worth $350 million.

Late last month, they wanted to send 20 million coins to the cryptocurrency market maker Wintermute, which was supposed to act as a liquidity provider for centralized exchanges. Wintermute uses the first-tier Ethereum network, but the Optimism Foundation mistakenly transferred the cryptocurrency to the second-tier address.

After $350 million were in an inaccessible account, they were promptly removed from the smart contract by a hacker. Interestingly, he sent 1,000,000 tokens to Ethereum cryptocurrency creator Vitalik Buterin. The hacker sold another 1,000,000 coins.

Wintermute claimed responsibility for the loss of tokens. The company promises to buy all the coins that will appear at the auction. At the same time, she demands that the hacker return the tokens, and otherwise she threatens to turn to the police.
