Special Ukrainian armored vehicles help sappers in demining vacated territories

Today, SES sappers are actively working on demining settlements in the Kyiv region, recently liberated from racist occupiers. And in this they are helped by special transport of Ukrainian production. These are pyrotechnic cars of light type PM-L, made on the basis of the armored car Kozak-5 from the well-known capital company “Practice”. In the summer of 2018, the SES purchased eight such vehicles.

PM-L has at the back hinged with the help of a hydraulic drive door behind which is a sliding, also with the help of hydraulics, steel tray with sand.

The latter is designed to transport explosive substances weighing up to 500 kg. To the right of the board, behind the lifting shutters, there is everything necessary for the work of sappers: body armor, helmets, coils with wire, fire extinguishers and special tools. You can also use a self-extracting winch to pull up dangerous objects. The car is equipped with a video recorder, GPS-tracker and navigation system.

The total weight of PM-L is 8765 kg. At the heart of the Kozak-5 is an all-wheel drive chassis Ford F-550. It is equipped with a 6.7-liter turbodiesel with 300 hp, paired with an automatic 6-speed manual transmission. The maximum speed is 120 km/h.

And let’s remind you once again of three important rules when detecting explosive objects: do not touch, lift or transport!
