Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 is the world’s first gaming monitor with 4K and 240Hz support

Samsung Electronics has announced the launch of global sales of the 2022 line of gaming monitors Odyssey, which is represented by three models – G85NB, G75NB and G40B. The most interesting among them is probably the G85NB model, which the manufacturer calls the world’s first gaming monitor with 4K resolution and 240 Hz support. It is available in a single size – with a screen diagonal of 32 inches (81.28 cm).

Odyssey Neo G8 (G85NB)

The Odyssey Neo G8 was first announced at CES 2022 in January, along with the 32-inch Smart Monitor M8 for home entertainment and the professional High Resolution Monitor S8. This is a more compact version of the 49-inch gaming curved monitor Odyssey G9, which was released in late 2021 at a suggested retail price of UAH 59,999. The new Odyssey Neo G8 uses a 32-inch backlit Quantum Mini LED panel with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels and a maximum refresh rate of 240 Hz.

In other respects, the 32-inch Odyssey Neo G8 is second to none in the older 49-inch version: peak brightness reaches 2,000 nits, response time is 1 ms (G2G), and static contrast – 1,000,000:1. Support for adaptive frame synchronization NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, as well as HDMI 2.1 with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) also remained in place. The radius of curvature is similar to 1000 mm.

The design also remained unchanged – Odyssey Neo G8 is made in a glossy white body with dark frames and equipped with an adjustable stand. On the back is RGB backlight Core Lighting with CoreSync.

Odyssey Neo G7 (G75NB)

One step lower is the Odyssey Neo G7 (G75NB), a 32-inch 4K monitor (3840 × 2160) with a curved VA 1000R panel, 165 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms (GtG) response time, which provides excellent gaming performance.

The Odyssey Neo G7 has taken over most of the features of the Odyssey Neo G8, including AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, Quantum Mini LED technology, and Quantum HDR 2000 with a peak brightness of 2000 nits and a static contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1.

Deep immersion in the gameplay enhances the CoreSync backlight, located on the back of the monitor.

Odyssey G4 (G40B)

G40B is the basic and most affordable model of the new line of gaming monitors Samsung Odyssey 2022. It is available in two screen sizes – 25 and 27 inches. It uses an IPS panel with a wide viewing angle and HDR10 support. Other key features: resolution – Full HD (1920 x 1080), refresh rate – 240 Hz, response time – 1 ms (GtG). NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro adaptive frame synchronization technologies are also supported.

Samsung Odyssey G85NB, G75NB and G40B gaming monitors will go on sale worldwide in June, and the exact release schedule depends on the region. There are no details about the prices yet.
