Russian Navy ship “Sergei Kotov” is shot down in the Black Sea: DIU discloses details

According to the representative of the Ukrainian military intelligence, Andriy Yusov, a screw was damaged in the port side of the ship “Sergei Kotov” and a hole 50 by 100 centimeters was formed.

On September 14, the Sergei Kotov vessel was damaged as a result of an attack by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on patrol vessels of the Russian Navy. Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, said this in a commentary to LIGA.net on September 18.

It is reported that the attack targeted the patrol ships Vasily Bykov and Sergey Kotov, which are intended for patrolling in the Black Sea.

According to a representative of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, the Sergei Kotov vessel was seriously damaged. The ship’s propeller is damaged, and there is a hole in the port side 50 by 100 centimeters above the waterline.

“This means that the Sergiy Kotov will be undergoing repairs for a long period of time and will not take part in the aggressive actions of the aggressor state against Ukraine,” the Ukrainian military intelligence spokesman said.

According to Yusov, the Russian Federation confirms that their fleet was damaged. For example, the head of the intelligence department of the district headquarters, Colonel Filatov, in an information note on the situation on September 13-14, stated that the ships were hit.

It should be noted that the Sergey Kotov belongs to the Vasily Bykov patrol vessels of the 22160 project, which are equipped with short-range and long-range guided missile weapons. In total, Russia has four such vessels – Vasily Bykov, Dmitry Rogachev, Pavel Derzhavin and Sergey Kotov.

As a reminder, on September 14, the Strategic Communications Directorate of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that two Russian patrol ships had been damaged by the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Black Sea. It is noted that the attack took place in the southwestern part of the Black Sea.

On the same day, Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov posted a video of a maritime drone approaching an unnamed enemy vessel. He said that this is the work of the GUR and United24 donors.
