Russia pays €2,000 to public figures in Bulgaria for spreading propaganda

The Russian Federation pays Bulgarian politicians, journalists, public figures and others to shape public opinion favorable to it.

This was reported by Euractiv with reference to the speech on Darik radio by the spokeswoman of the Bulgarian government, head of the Prime Minister’s office, Lena Borislavova.

According to Bulgarian special services, Bulgarian public figures, famous journalists, politicians, and other public figures receive 4,000 Leva (about 2,000 euros) a month from Russia for spreading Russian propaganda in Bulgaria. This was announced on Darik radio by the spokeswoman of the government, head of the Prime Minister’s office, Lena Borislavova.

According to her, individual speakers are used to misleading the public by playing on human passions and fears.

“All of you who freely spit on the EU and NATO, as well as support Putin’s actions in Ukraine, know: you are screwed,” said Lena Boryslavova. “Those who inspire you to do this are paid. Every month.”

Earlier, the Bulgarian opposition parties brought the question of no confidence in the country’s government to the parliament for discussion.
