Putin has legalized the smuggling of imported goods in Russia

Import of imported goods without the permission of the brand owner in Russia is called 'parallel import'

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law that legalizes the importation into Russia of goods produced in other countries and sold in Russia without the permission of the brand owner – in Russia, this scheme is called ‘parallel imports.’

Under Russian law, ‘parallel imports’ are exempt from criminal and administrative liability for them.

The norm is valid only in 2022 and applies to products put into circulation abroad.

We will remind, the government of the Russian Federation legalized parallel import of separate types of production in the end of March.

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade has published a list of ‘parallel import’ goods, which includes smartphones, game consoles, computers, clothing and footwear. The Russian agency allowed ‘parallel imports’ to import to Russia smartphones and equipment Apple, Asus, HP, Panasonic, Samsung, Nokia, Sony, Intel and others, home appliances Electrolux, Miele, Siemens, Dyson, game consoles X -Box, PlayStation, Nintendo.

As a result, the Russian online markets Yandex.Market, Ozon and Wildberries have introduced a permit to sell goods from the so-called list of ‘parallel imports’.

However, some Samsung smartphones imported to Russia as part of ‘parallel imports’ cannot be activated in the country.
