Poland added This War of Mine to the school curriculum

On June 27, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland made a historic decision on the curriculum and included This War of Mine in the list of additional educational materials within the framework of the Games in Education initiative. For the first time in the history of Polish education, the video game became part of the school curriculum.

The website of the Polish government has a detailed description of This War of Mine and a link to download the game – anyone can take advantage of this opportunity. The size of the archive with game files is 2.6 GB.

The project was initiated by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and initially planned that This War of Mine would be part of the school program in the 2021 academic year. However, it only happened now. The antiwar survival simulator This War of Mine of Polish studio 11 bit studios is the first video game to receive the recommendation of the Polish Ministry of Education, and is currently the only game on the list. At the same time, educators are pleased to call on developers to cooperate – to apply and send a game for checking in for inclusion in the program can everyone wishing. This War of Mine, a survival simulator in a besieged city, came out at the end of 2014 on a PC. In July, the project was ported to iOS and Android, and later to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch. The final DLC was released only at the end of 2019.

The game is based on the siege of Zagreb in the 90s and victims among the civilian population. The game received approval from both the representatives of the profile press and gamers – the average rating of This War of Mine on the Metacritic aggregator is 83 points out of 100 from critics and 8.3 out of 10 players.
