McDonald’s may resume operations in Ukraine

The government is in talks with McDonald’s about resuming operations in Ukraine – the world’s largest fast food chain has suspended operations since February 24 for security reasons. Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced encouraging news to all connoisseurs of Big Macs and other McDo delicacies.

Today, June 19, Father’s Day is celebrated in Ukraine and the whole civilized world. The Minister joined in the congratulations and noted that he was very short of opportunities to make children happy by going to or ordering a McDo.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is firmly convinced that now there are conditions for the resumption of work, so they actively persuade the network to return to work in Ukraine. The minister said that a few weeks ago, a government team contacted the Ukrainian office and then McDonald’s headquarters in the United States. The government has also raised this issue in official contacts with the US government, as McDonald’s is one of the most well-known American brands. Kuleba noted that ‘the process is moving.’

McDonald’s has a special place in the lives of many Ukrainians – by the way, the first McDonald’s in Ukraine opened on May 24, 1997 and the network recently celebrated its 25th anniversary in the country. Many have developed some of the rituals and traditions associated with McDonald’s over the years.

Honestly, we, like many others, also miss McDonald’s, so we hope that the talks will be successful and McDonald’s restaurants will soon resume work in some cities of Ukraine, where the security situation allows.

It is worth mentioning that earlier, McDonald’s decided to leave Russia completely and sell the entire business after 32 years of work – this decision was made due to a full-scale war waged by Russia against Ukraine. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, more than 1,000 global companies and brands from various fields have closed their activities in Russia. Among them – Apple, IBM, IKEA, Coca-Cola, Audi and many others.
