In Irpen and Romanivka, mobile communication was restored with the help of Starlink

The head of Vodafone Ukraine’s communications department Victoria Ruban said that in the cities of Irpin and Romanivka it was possible to restore part of the mobile operator’s network thanks to Starlink equipment. This is the first such case in the history of Ukraine.

As Channel 24 reports with reference to Victoria Ruban, a base station in 2G and 4G configurations has started operating near Irpen and Romanivka. At the station, a set of Starlink equipment from SpaceX was used as a transport network.

Vodafon Ukraine spokeswoman Victoria Pavlovskaya stressed that now it is possible to ensure the smooth operation of this segment of the network, even in the absence of Internet access through the traditional underground transport network.

This scheme allows you to quickly restore mobile communications where damaged communications.
This is the first time we have booked via satellite, Pavlovska said.

The head of communications department Vodafone Ukraine added that this is the second case in the world (previously done in Japan) the use of such equipment to restore the mobile infrastructure in the world. She also noted that in terms of extreme conditions, this case can be considered the first in world history.

Starlink in Ukraine

It will be recalled that since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Starlink Internet has started working in our country. It will continue to be used to communicate important military and civilian facilities.

Yes, a number of cities have already received equipment for satellite Internet, which was sent to Ukraine by the company Elon’s Mask SpaceX.

Interestingly, for SpaceX Ukraine was a great opportunity to test all the possibilities of Starlink in the field. To do this, Musk even transferred additional forces to the Starlink project. The team has developed special software that reduces energy consumption, allows Starlink to work from a car cigarette lighter and on the go, which was previously unrealistic.
