Chongar Bridge hit in Crimea: collaborators complain about Storm Shadow missiles

The damage to the bridge caused cars to get stuck on different sides. Those wishing to leave the peninsula are being redirected through the Crimean Bridge or Armyansk, witnesses say.

On the night of June 22, a massive attack was launched on the Chongar Bridge in the temporarily occupied Crimea. The head of the occupation administration of the peninsula, Sergey Aksyonov, said this in Telegram.

According to Aksyonov, there were no casualties as a result of the strike. Explosive experts are currently conducting an examination to assess the type of ammunition.

“Specialized services have begun to inspect the roadway. We will inform you about the possibility of traffic within an hour,” the occupiers’ protege added.

The Crimean media, citing eyewitnesses, report on the damage to the bridge at the Dzhankoy-Chongar checkpoint.

“So far, we have three cars stuck there from different sides. All cars are sent either through the Crimean bridge or through Armyansk,” local residents say.

The head of the occupation administration of the Kherson region, collaborator Volodymyr Saldo, accused the Ukrainian Armed Forces of striking several bridges on the administrative border of Crimea and the Kherson region. According to him, British Storm Shadow cruise missiles were allegedly used in the attack.

“The connection between Kherson region and Crimea is still in place – traffic is temporarily organized via a backup route,” he added.
