After Marder and Bradley, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive NATO-type tanks – Politico

This week, three countries agreed to transfer offensive weapons to the Armed Forces. We are talking about France, Germany and the USA, which will supply Ukraine with AMX-10RC tanks, Marder BPM and Bradley BMP, respectively. According to Politico journalists, the initiative of the above states will pave the way for the transfer of more powerful weapons such as Leopard and Abrams tanks to the Ukrainian army.

Western tanks are superior to Soviet-made armored vehicles in such parameters as mobility, accuracy and firing range. They are able to provide the Armed Forces with an advantage over the enemy.

According to General Ben Hodges, who previously served as the commander of the US Army in Europe, the Bradley infantry fighting vehicle was originally designed to work in tandem with the Abrams. Hodges refused to comment on the possibility of transferring US or German tanks to the Armed Forces.

Kyiv has been trying to agree with the US on the supply of tanks since the beginning of the invasion. Washington is in no hurry to satisfy the request of the Ukrainian authorities due to logistical difficulties. In addition, Abrams tanks often fail. Ukrainian servicemen will not be able to repair them without spare parts and appropriate skills. This week it became known that Finland and Poland are ready to supply Leopard tanks to Ukraine, if the corresponding decision is made at the EU level.
