A dolphin rehabilitation center can be opened in the Black Sea

More than 5,000 dolphins died as a result of Russia’s actions in the Black Sea. Scientists of the National Park ‘Tuzlivski Lymani’ are now planning to create a Center for the rehabilitation of mammals.

A large reserve in the Black Sea is planned to be created for the rehabilitation of dolphins, which also became victims of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

‘The center is necessary for the reproduction of populations of 3 species of dolphins and their preservation, which is especially necessary after their mass death as a result of the war, as well as many years of losses before the war due to poaching and fishing nets,’ wrote Doctor of Biological Sciences Ivan Rusev.

It should be noted that currently there is no Center in Ukraine for the rehabilitation of dolphins before their release into the Black Sea. Ecologists are also discussing issues related to the rehabilitation of dolphins removed from dolphinariums by court decisions.

We will remind you that military actions of the Russian Federation in the sea led to the death of more than 5 thousand dolphins.
